EASTBOURNE FESTIVAL 2010

Eastbourne Festival 2010 is well underway with an exciting programme of events. The 2010 festival will bring an amazing range of music, literature, theatre, comedy and arts events, as well as workshops and community arts events for kids and adults.

For 2010 the Festival is being organised and run entirely by volunteers. In order to achieve our aims, we will need support from a range of organisations and individuals. If you care about what we want to do, you can help too. Become a Friend of Eastbourne Festival!

For an annual subscription of £25, you can support Eastbourne Festival, and in return we will make sure that you will benefit from:
• advance mailing of the Festival brochure
• your name (as a Friend of The Festival) printed in the main Festival brochure
Family membership is available for £40.

FESTIVAL 2009 BROCHURE OUT NOW!

Hot off the press! Copies of the Festival brochure are available NOW at venues around the town. This years fab full colour brochure gives details of an amazing range of music, literature, theatre, comedy and arts events, as well as workshops and community arts events for kids and adults.

Brochures have been distributed to shops, cafes, bars, hairdressers, supermarkets and other venues around the town. Look out for your copy now. The Big Sleep is the Festival Information Centre this year, so if you can't find a brochure in your neighbourhood, why not pick one up from The Big Sleep (on the seafront, opposite the Wish Tower). Alternatively you can download a copy from the Festival website www.eastbournefestival.co.uk.

EASTBOURNE FESTIVAL LIVE 2009 line up announced!

Live music and DJ's: Eastbourne Festival Live has announced a great line up including
The Maccabees and Friendly Fires.

Following a hugely successful event in 2008 featuring Jack Penate, Pendulum DJ’s, Metros, Zane Lowe, DJ Hype and many more, EFL brings together a selection of the UK’s finest new and established artists for a weekend of quality music as part of Eastbourne Festival.

BRIGHTON UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING EASTBOURNE FESTIVAL 2009!

Staff and students from the University of Brighton BA Events Management and Events Marketing courses are providing welcome support to Eastbourne Festival for 2009. Student volunteer, Louise Dobson, is the Festival's Press Officer and senior lecturer, Jayne Luscombe is overseeing the new Friends of Eastbourne Festival scheme. Festival Director, Judith said, "The Directors of Eastbourne Festival are very pleased to be working with staff and students from the University of Brighton. It's great to have the support of this team of experienced staff and committed student volunteers. Their input is greatly valued both for it's practical contribution and as an endorsement of the Festival and their belief in its potential."

FESTIVAL 2009 FIRST EVENTS PLANNED

Plans for the 2009 festival are now well under way, with the programme of events looking to be even more exciting than last year. The festival programme will feature:

• Eastbourne Festival Live: popular live music at The Winter Gardens, last years line-up featured top acts such as Pendulum, Jack Penate, Radio One’s Zane Lowe and Babyshambles. This year’s line-up to be released soon!
• Polish Arts Events: The idea is to create a ‘Poland-by-the-sea’ (Polska nad morzem) through a multi-media exhibition of photos, interviews, text and portraits of Polish people living and working in Eastbourne and the surrounding area.
• Artists Open Houses Event: This year’s festival will again see local artists opening up their studios and houses for the public to view work as well as see the space in which it is produced.
• Redoubt Events: The Redoubt Fortress is to become a ‘hub’ for festival activities including community activities and workshops, performance and exciting new site specific work and installation by the Blue Monkey artists and invited guest artists from across Sussex.
• Towner Gallery to show local work: The new Towner Gallery has invited East Sussex based artists to propose subtle, yet interesting, “interventions” for the public non-gallery spaces for the duration of the festival.
